What are tariffs?

A tariff is a government tax on imported goods from another country. For cars, that means vehicles or vehicle parts that come from outside the United States will be subject to a tariff.

How will tariffs affect new cars being imported and not in the United States?

Any new vehicle imported to the U.S. will now have to be subject to a tariff which means the manufacturer importing them here to dealerships like ours will pay the tax on top of the shipping costs to bring them to the United States. This could potentially mean that the newest vehicles arriving after April 3, 2025, will be at a higher cost to offset rising shipping costs.

Is buying a new vehicle now better than waiting?

If you're in the market for a vehicle and can start that process, we recommend doing so. Vehicles already here at the dealership are not subject to the tariff.

Will buying now not impact monthly payments after purchase?

Buying a new vehicle now that's already here will not be impacted by the tariff, meaning that you'll find you can lock in quality terms over waiting for vehicles that have arrived after the imposition of the tariff.
